Check three things before you buy

The phone must support eSIM and be unlocked

Look for Add eSIM in Settings. Dial *#06#: an EID usually means hardware support. A locked contract phone will not take a third-party eSIM. Use Holafly’s device checker before you pay.

Install on Wi-Fi; activate after you land

Holafly recommends installing at least a day before travel. For daily trip plans, install does not start the clock. Days start when you turn the line on, enable data roaming, and attach to a local network. Monthly or annual subscriptions can start at purchase — read that plan.

Type the email correctly; QR codes only from Holafly

You can buy on the website without signing up first. The QR and SM-DP+ codes arrive at that email, and also in the Holafly app under Purchases or on the order page. Use holafly.com / esim.holafly.com and the official app only.

    Open holafly.com or esim.holafly.com, or the official iOS / Android app. Use Where are you traveling? One country: the country page. Several countries: a regional pack such as Europe, or a global pack. Choose days and how many eSIM profiles you need.

    Read the unlimited-data notes, then pay with your own card

    Many destinations sell unlimited data by day; capped packs and subscriptions exist too. Tap Get unlimited internet → Go to checkout, enter email and billing address, and pay with a card or official method listed on the page. Do not use a stranger’s card.

    Install via email QR, the app, or manual codes

    Install is not activation. Holafly recommends the official app. Or: Settings → Cellular / Mobile Service → Add eSIM → Use QR Code (show the email QR on another device). On iOS 17.4+ you can long-press the QR in Mail. If scan fails, enter SM-DP+ and the activation code. Label the line, for example Spain Holafly.

    At the destination, turn on the line, data, and roaming

    iPhone: Turn On This Line → Data Roaming on → set Cellular Data to the travel eSIM → turn Allow Mobile Data Switching off. Android: in SIM Manager enable Holafly and set it as Mobile Data, then enable Data Roaming under Mobile Networks. No attach: reboot or toggle Airplane Mode for about 10 seconds.

    Turn off home-carrier data so you are not billed twice

    Dual SIM can stay: home line for calls and SMS, Holafly for data. Disable home-carrier mobile data. In the app, Purchases may show Pending to Install, Installed – Ready to use, or In use. In use means the plan has started.
