Xiaomi’s first passport-style foldable debuts the in-house XRING O3. Below: shape, chip, China price, and no export plan.

On 7 September 2026 Xiaomi unveiled its first mid-size wide foldable, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, in Beijing: the in-house XRING O3 debuts, the inner panel is 7.58 inches, and China pricing starts at RMB 10,999.

The searchable name is Xiaomi 18 Fold. GSMArena, PhoneArena, and Xiaomi’s brief the same day confirm a passport-style wide fold — not the tall book shape of a Galaxy Z Fold.

The cover is about 5.38 inches (1168×1712) and the inner panel about 7.58 inches (2364×1672). Both are HyperRGB LTPO at 1–120Hz; the brief cites 4,000 nits peak. Folded: 117.8×83.6×10.68 mm. Open: 5.02 mm thick. Weight: about 219 g.

    Read the shape first, not another millimetre on a book fold

    PhoneArena timed the stage two days before rumoured Apple iPhone Ultra. Closed, the 18 Fold is closer to a passport: a wider, shorter cover. A tall Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a different line — do not treat them as one device.

    Read the chip and the RAM SKU as one story

    The brief calls XRING O3 Xiaomi’s second fully in-house SoC: 3nm, 24 billion transistors, 10 all-big cores, 16-core G2-Ultra NX GPU. The 60% CPU / 85% GPU lifts versus the last gen are lab claims. GSMArena says LPDDR6 is on 16GB only; 12GB stays LPDDR5X.

    What you can check is China on sale 10 September and the RMB 10,999 start price. An export plan is not published; several outlets call it China-only.

The brief cites silicon-carbon, 20% high silicon, up to 920Wh/L, 67W wired and 50W wireless. Xiaomi calls it the largest in the form. That is a vendor claim, not a third-party endurance chart.

Questions worth checking

How is the 18 Fold different from a Galaxy Z Fold book fold?

The 18 Fold is a passport-style wide fold: closer to square when closed, with a wider, shorter cover. Z Fold phones are tall books. Both fold inward, but the grip and cover ratio differ.

Is XRING O3 the same chip as Xuanji O3?

Yes. English briefs use XRING O3; some Chinese outlets write 玄戒 O3 / Xuanji O3. This article keeps the official English name.

Can you buy it outside China now?
